Local Philanthropists to Donate Money for UWL Athletics Club

sprout for kids foundation Pearl Street Brewery La Crosse, WI

The Sprout For Kids Foundation was founded in 2013 by Pearl Street Brewery and ON3 Print and Design owners Joe Katchever and Tami Plourde for the sole purpose of raising money to funnel into the La Crosse area community. The Sprout for Kids Foundation is a federally listed 501(c)3 non-profit that accepts tax-free donations. By donating their time and their products, both businesses have managed to keep the non-profit at zero percent overhead, meaning that every dollar raised goes directly to the community. Sprout for Kids Foundation has poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into our community.

Joe Katchever, owner of Pearl Street Brewery and co-founder of Sprout for Kids Foundation says, “In the spirit of giving, we donate our time, energy and staff to make sure the Sprout for Kids Foundation has no overhead so 100% of people’s donations go directly to the cause. Katchever goes on to say, “When people buy Pearl Street beer or choose On Three Printing for their printing or design needs, they help to put money into the La Crosse area community.”

The Sprout for Kids Foundation gets a majority of its funding through the sale of Pearl Street Brewery beer and on and off-site events;  and through the graphic design and printing work done by On Three Printing and Design, a local printshop. The Foundation also accepts cash donations.

“We live here, we raise our kids here and we have always felt strongly about making positive changes within our own community. Since 1999, when I first founded the brewery,  we have made beer donations and done fundraisers for people that need help,” says Katchever, “we finally founded the non-profit in 2013 so donations could be considered tax-exempt and more money would go to fulfill the actual need.”

In the pandemic year of 2020, the Sprout for Kids Foundation started the “La Crosse Bar and Restaurant Relief Fund” which resulted in cash grants for seven local bars and restaurants that would have otherwise closed down during the pandemic.

Katchever and Plourde will be presenting a check to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse “L-Club” during the UWL gymnastics meet vs Winona State at Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse – at the University of Wisconsin Friday, February 16, 2024 6:30. The L-Club makes an invaluable difference to more than 500 student-athletes.

Pearl Street Brewery Announcing its 4-part Seasonal Sour Series

Seasonal Release of Gosecopia made with Wisconsin Cranberries.

When Pearl Street Brewery releases its 4-part Seasonal Sour Series it is throughout the year and they don’t traditionally have all four beers available all at once, this year the stars have aligned and customers will be able to pick up Pearl Street Brewery’s Pop Gose, 17-UP Lemon Lime Gose, Sour Winter Gose, and Gosecopia all at the same time!

These sours have undergone spontaneous primary fermentation with native microbes found in the air in La Crosse, Wisconsin. This natural, terroir fermentation doesn’t just create an inviting sourness, but also connects this beer to our land and our community.

Pop Gose – The complex flavor profile is built with lavender and hibiscus flowers, both tart and aromatic, while cucumbers lend a light, fresh taste. It’s as refreshing as the spring thaw in Wisconsin. (Seasonal Spring Release – 5% ABV 3.5 IBUs)

17-UP Lemon Lime Gose – Originally brewed to celebrate 17 years of The Pearl Street Brewery, this is a tangy and refreshing conundrum. This particular Gose is flavored with natural lemon-lime essence for a mind-warping exbeerience. (Seasonal Summer Release – 4.8% ABV 3.5 IBUs)

Sour Winter Gose –  The brisk tangy backbone is a lot like the brisk Winter air around here. This beer also contains unrefined, ancient sea salt, fresh spruce tips harvested by our friends up in the mountains around Juneau, Alaska and the essential oil pressed from the skins of the rare Italian Bergamot orange. (Seasonal Winter Release – 4.8% ABV 3.5 IBUs)

Gosecopia – Fourth in our seasonal sour series, this Gose is flavored with natural guava, mango, and locally sourced cranberry for a bountiful exbeerience.   (Seasonal Fall Release – 5.3% ABV  3.5 IBUs)

We want our Clubs to become the backbone of their existence and success.

The Center: 7 Rivers LGBTQ Connection

The Center is a non-profit, run mostly by volunteers striving to make the world a better place for LGBT people and their allies. Through advocacy, programming, and outreach, we hope to make our 11 county area a better place.
