Pearl Street Brewery Releasing Belgian Quad Aged in Bourbon Barrels for 25th Annual Winter Ball!

During the event, Pearl Street Brewery will be releasing a Belgian Quad aged in Bourbon Barrels for the last five years (12oz single bottles).

On Saturday, February 17th, Pearl Street Brewery celebrates its 25th Annual Winter Ball – Party Like It’s 1999 with a special release.

During the event, Pearl Street Brewery will be releasing a Belgian Quad aged in Bourbon Barrels for the last five years (12oz single bottles). The Brewmaster says, ‘When we hit the 20-year milestone, we decided we better make something special for our 25th anniversary, so I brewed a Trappist-style Belgian Quad and put it into bourbon barrels where it has been resting for the last five years. We have now kegged some of the batch and bottled some of it. After the long rest in bourbon barrels, the beer is in excess of 12% ABV. We called it ‘Lamb of Quad,’ and the girls upstairs made a cool label for the bottles.’ The beer will be released at the Winter Ball Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Additionally, The event will feature live music, delectable food, and a fantastic array of craft beverages from Pearl Street Brewery and Turisimo Winery & Fermentation. Guests will groove to live performances by The Smokin’ Bandits and Gruv Collection, accompanied by an eclectic selection of special release drinks, beers, and beverages.

General admission tickets include 1 beer and a souvenir 25th anniversary pint glass, the VIP tickets offer 5 beers, a 25th anniversary pint glass, early entry at 4 pm, and access to the VIP Area with food (while it lasts).

Attendees will experience a lineup of special release one-off beers, wine spritzers, sparkling wines, and hard cider mixers, alongside an impressive selection of award-winning Pearl Street Brewery beers.

History of Winter Ball
In 1999, Joe and his father, Tony, established Pearl Street Brewery in a downtown La Crosse bar’s basement. This marked the birth of a legend, and since then, it’s been a vibrant, storied history. Now, after 25 years, the brewery is set to celebrate another Winter Ball at its Northside La Crosse home. Throughout its history, this anniversary celebration has transformed across various locations, each leaving cherished memories for attendees.

The inaugural Winter Ball in 1999 was hosted at the Bodega. Subsequent events took place at Bluebird Campground, Westby Rod & Gun Club, El Coco Loco (now closed), and twice in a historic 1800s barn. Once, it was even held in Timber Coulee, nestled in the heart of the Coulee Region. This year, people from near and far will gather to celebrate at the brewery’s Saint Andrew Street location.

For over 11 years, Pearl Street Brewery has collected hops from local, backyard hop-growers for use in their “Community Harvest” Ale. The annual small-batch brew uses hops from everyone to create a single batch brew. While the beer style changes from year to year, it’s always brewed with locally grown hops. Pearl Street Brewery invited area hop growers to bring in their crop to the brewery to be included in this year’s batch and, for each pound of fresh-picked hop flowers brought in, the grower received one ”pound” of beer (a pint) at the time of donation as well as one “pound” of the Community Harvest Ale, once it has been brewed. The hobby hop growers along with the rest of the locals can look forward to trying this beer later this month.

This year, attendees to the Pearl Street Brewery’s 23rd Annual Winter “Disco” Ball will get first dibs on the Community Harvest Double IPA.

Giving it back

Pearl Street Brewery donates proceeds from every pint of Community Harvest Double IPA purchased at the Tasting Room. Proceeds from the beer will benefit local nonprofits. Area pubs and restaurants will have the opportunity to participate too; by serving the beer throughout the Winter.

“A community collaboration! Every year we brew this beer with hops grown in back yards all over town. People love to participate in the beer they drink. This year it’s a DDHDIPA. Folks can expect a very hop-forward, juicy, cloudy, and malty beer.”  – Joe Katchever – Owner, Founder
