Monkey Business Food Truck will be serving up a ⚜️ Creole Style Mac and Cheese 🌙🧀 !

This Saturday, February 18th 2023, Pearl Street Brewery will be celebrating its 24th Annual Winter Ball. Festivities will include special releases of new, one-off beers, wine spritzers, sparkling wines, and hard cider mixers along with a lineup of award-winning Pearl Street Brewery beers. Special release beverages include:

Bloody Marty – Blood Orange Wheat – A Refreshing Wheat Beer with a Twist! Brewed with 2-row Northwest Pale Malt and Wisconsin Malted Wheat. Blood oranges provide a subtle twist to this brew. It pours with a thick, white lacy head and a tint of orange. A medium malt body with a crisp wheat finish and subtle orange flavor.

German Pilsner – Crisp, clean and slightly bitter, with a medium-dry finish. Slight malt sweetness lingers. Proud, white head. German noble hops.

Badunkadunkle Dunkleweizen- Southern German style wheat beer brewed as darker versions (Dunkel means “dark”) with deliciously complex malts and a low balancing bitterness. Creamy and medium-bodied, amber-brown and slightly hazy. Clove, banana bread and bubblegum character in the nose.

Wine Release – New Wines! House made Chardonnay and a Cabernet along with wine Spritzers

The evening’s entertainment lineup will not disappoint. From Minneapolis, Porky’s Groove Machine opens the night with their own co-ed, brassy-funk, with some synchronized dance moves (for band and audience alike).  Porky’s live show is a blast and the groove is infectious.

Headlining the main stage we’ll have Nicholas David tapping some Madri-Gras themed tunes and featuring Mark Joseph & The American Soul. Nicholas “the Feelin” David brings a soulful, Dr. John-style vibe to the stage. Nicholas was a finalist on the second season of The Voice.

Porky’s Groove Machine

Nearing a decade of trombone solo-ing and audience congas lines, they have not gone unnoticed by audiences and promoters across the Midwest; Porky’s has been chosen to support national touring acts like Guster, Here Come the Mummies, The Motet, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Werks, and The Main Squeeze. As winners of the 2018 Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) for “Best R&B/Soul Band,” they were one of three bands chosen to headline the sold out Wisconsin Funk Fest at Madison’s legendary Majestic Theater in January, 2018.

Nicholas David

This songsmith became known to the world in 2012 as he performed in front of hit-making judges and television audiences during “The Voice.” Finishing third, his performances set him apart from the pack. David and his Feelin Band have released eight studio albums and toured nationally and internationally, sharing the stage with the Avett Brothers, Rusted Root, and Jackson Browne.

Mark Joseph & The American Soul

Mark Joseph’s 2021 third full-length album, Vegas Motel, is a highly personal record rooted in the emotion of the year it was written (2020), yet reaching far beyond the confines of the times. Co-producer and drummer, JT Bates (Big Red Machine, Hiss Golden Messenger), and Engineer Alex Proctor (Grace Potter, Dead Man Winter), perfectly compliment the records musical tapestry further solidifying Joseph’s talent as a singer/songwriter and collaborator.

History of Winter Ball

Joe and his dad, Tony started Pearl Street Brewery in the basement of a bar in downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1999. A legend was born that Winter and a storied and colorful history followed. Now, 24 years later, the brewery is celebrating another Winter Ball in its home on the Northside of La Crosse. Over the years, this annual anniversary celebration has taken many different forms at many different locations. All of them are full of great memories for those lucky enough to attend.

The very first Winter Ball in 1999, took place at the Bodega. It has also been held at Bluebird Campground, Westby Rod & Gun Club, El Coco Loco (closed), twice in a historic 1800’s barn. One time it was held out in Timber Coulee in the heart of the Coulee Region. This year, folks will come from far and wide to celebrate at the brewery in their Saint Andrew Street location.

Pearl Street Brewery releases its 2022 17-UP Lemon Lime Gose Seasonal

Backyard Hop Harvest

Part of the 4-part Seasonal Sour Series, these sours have undergone spontaneous primary fermentation with native microbes found in the air in La Crosse, Wisconsin. This natural, terroir fermentation doesn’t just create an inviting sourness, but also connects this beer to our land and our community.

Hitting shelves soon (in bottles) is the 17-UP Lemon Lime Gose – Originally brewed to celebrate 17 years of The Pearl Street Brewery, this is a tangy and refreshing beer. This particular Gose is flavored with natural lemon-lime essence for a bright, fresh exbeerience. Also available on draught.( – 4.8% ABV 3.5 IBUs)

Additionally, coming up in December will be the 2022 Sour Winter Gose –  The brisk tangy backbone is a lot like the brisk Winter air around here. This beer also contains unrefined, ancient sea salt, fresh spruce tips harvested by our friends up in the mountains around Juneau, Alaska and the essential oil pressed from the skins of the rare Italian Bergamot orange. (Seasonal Winter Release – 4.8% ABV 3.5 IBUs)

Other Pearl Street Brewery Sours include Gosecopia and Pop Gose.

Pearl Street Brewery is now collecting hops for its 2022 Backyard Hop Harvest

Backyard Hop Harvest

When: Now through October 31, 2022

For over 15 years, Pearl Street Brewery has collected hops from local, backyard hop-growers for use in their “Community Harvest” Ale. The annual small-batch brew uses hops from everyone to create a single batch brew. While the beer style changes from year to year, it’s always brewed with locally grown hops. Pearl Street Brewery is inviting area hop growers to bring in their crop to the brewery to be included in this year’s batch and, for each pound of fresh-picked hop flowers brought in, the grower will receive 1lb of beer (pint) at the time of donation and 1lb of Harvest Ale beer after it is brewed.

Rules for hop submission:

  1. Freshly picked: No brown rotting hops, yucky submissions will be rejected.
  2. Flowers only, please! No stems or leaves.
  3. Register your name with the bartender. Free pint now. Free pint harvest ale.
  4. Put on the drying rack.

Pearl Street Brewery Tasting Room will donate proceeds from every pint purchased to the Sprout for Kids Foundation. Area pubs and restaurants will have the opportunity to participate too; by serving the beer throughout the fall and winter. Proceeds from the beer will benefit a local nonprofit. Sprout for Kids Foundation is a LOCAL non-profit that raises money and goods to be donated directly to families, schools, and organizations in La Crosse and the surrounding area.

Interested restaurants and locations willing to sell the beer may reach out to Joe at Pearl Street Brewery.
